Nihon Kohden collaboration with Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing at Emory University

Nihon Kohden is proud to collaborate with Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing at Emory University, home to the #1 BSN and MSN programs in the country, on impactful work advancing AI in healthcare — and we congratulate them on their impactful presentation at the Engineering in Medicine and Biology Conference (EMBC)!

Continuous Cardiac Arrest Prediction in ICU using PPG Foundation Model
🗓 Date: July 17, 2025
🕝 Time: 2:30 PM – 2:45 PM
📍 Location: B3 M1-2 (EMBC 2025)

Emory's research on a photoplethysmography (PPG)-only foundation model marks a significant advancement in the use of continuous physiological signals for predicting catastrophic health events. By learning generalizable representations from PPG data, the model can be adapted to a range of downstream tasks, including the early prediction of cardiac arrest. This innovation opens the door to more actionable, remote, and intelligent patient care solutions.

Presented under the EMBC 2025 theme “Engineering Medicine, Innovating Healthcare,” this work exemplifies the potential of interdisciplinary collaboration; uniting clinical expertise, AI, and translational science to reshape the future of healthcare delivery.

👏 Congratulations to the Emory team for this meaningful contribution — we’re honored to be part of this journey.
